IXS Enterprise - En designstudie av Nasa för ett warpskepp

En ny design från Nasa:s Harold White visar hur ett rymdskepp, konstruerat för att ta sig fram snabbare än ljuset med hjälp av warpdrift, kan komma att se ut.

 

Hela designen finslipades av den välkände konstnären Mark Rademaker, som också gav den en Star Trek-finish (enligt Whites önskemål)..

 

White och hans forskargrupp har arbetat med en design för ett överljushastighetsskepp sedan 2012, och i synnerhet på att hitta en fungerande lösning för warpdrift. Arbetet är fortfarande i experimentstadiet, men baseras på verklig matematik och fysik.

A new design from Nasa 's Harold White shows what a spaceship, designed to travel faster than light using warp drive, might look like.

 

The entire design was honed by renowned artist Mark Rademaker , who also gave it a Star Trek finish (per White 's wishes).

 

White and his research team have been working on a design for a superlight ship since 2012, and in particular on finding a workable solution for warp drive. The work is still in the experimental stage, but is based on real mathematics and physics.

I’ve been following Harold White’s warp drive research for a while, and the IXS Enterprise concept is one of the most visually compelling interpretations so far. What makes it interesting isn’t just the sleek, almost Star Trek-inspired finish by Mark Rademaker, but the fact that the design is rooted in real equations rather than pure imagination. Even if faster-than-light travel remains theoretical, it’s exciting to see NASA-backed ideas explored with serious physics behind them.
