"John Logan, bless his heart, was a big Troi fan, so he's written me a nice role in this movie. I'm very happy. Beyond getting married and being a blushing bride, Troi is basically the catalyst in the denouement of the movie because of the relationship that she has with Shinzon. I actually have something to do with the plot this time."

Nu i veckan så sänds avsnittet "Marauders" (30/10). Enterprise träffar återigen Klingonerna:

When Enterprise is in need of fuel, Archer discovers a desolate mining colony that is being controlled by Klingon marauders who are bullying the colonists and hoarding their fuel. After Archer discovers the problem, the crew trains the colonists to defend themselves and prepare for a final showdown against their Klingon oppressors.

The exhibition is open 7 days a week, Monday to Friday 10am - 8pm, Saturday & Sunday 10am - 10pm.

Ofta har det i Enterprise varit Hoshi Sato som fått ordna med tolkning. Till sin hjälp har hon haft en universalöversättare som dock inte alltid fungerat på bästa sätt.

Nu verkar det ändå som om översättarna börjar bli verkliga. I ett väntat krig mellan USA och Irak kommer handburna översättare att användas för att snabbt lösa problematiken med språket. Detta enligt CNN:s artikel som STARTREK.com citerar.

Archer spends a fretful night in sickbay with Dr. Phlox after Porthos, Archer's pet beagle, picks up a deadly virus on an alien planet.

"There’s definitely an impression that I did more than the eight or nine episodes of ‘The Next Generation’ I was actually in. I’m somewhat of the opinion that less is more. The Marx Brothers did four movies and everyone thinks of them as all being brilliant, where actually I think only two of them truly wonderful and two of them weren’t. That works, to a degree, in respect of the ‘Q’ as well. But there’s a part of me that says, ‘Boy, I would have liked to knock off a couple or more ‘Q’ episodes’. So I’m of two minds about it. I’m happy he made an impact, and I’m pleased that people think I did more than I really did, but I wish that I’d actually done a few more of them."

"If I were to do it again, I’d be interested in hearing people say, ‘He’s all over the map and yet it all seems very justifiable!’ I think it makes sense that he could be loving and innocent one moment and hateful the next moment, and on and on like that. Star Trek sminkören Michael Westmore berättade för Sci-Fi Wire att Viceroy i "Nemesis" skapades för att likna den gamla vampyrfiguren Nosferatu.

"That's exactly what [director] Stuart Baird wanted. Stuart handed me a picture of Nosferatu and said, 'I need an alien that looks like this.

We designed the head and then the ears. That was neat, because Stuart said, 'I want to be able to see through the ears.' So I made the ears out of clear gelatin. If there's any backlight behind them, you can see through the ears. Then we painted veins on the back of the ears. So if there's any light showing through, you can see veining through the ears."

While Enterprise surveys a black hole that's part of a trinary star system, the ship's proximity to the stellar phenomenon has a strange effect on the crew.

"We see their cool ships, but we never see the Romulans. I think it's cool that on 'Nemesis' you can see the Romulans of Picard's time, and at the same time you're seeing the early encounters with them on 'Enterprise;' there's great synergy there. But I think you've got to be real careful about going back to the old guys too much, because it looks like you're desperate. I did like the Ferengi show, but I'm in no rush to see them again. I've always had mixed feelings about the Ferengi because they're so broad, and we have no immediate plans for them."

ROBERT FORWARD?S career combined science fiction with science fact. A highly accomplished physicist who worked on the possibilities of matter-antimatter propulsion for space travel, he was also responsible for almost a dozen novels and short stories. He was very much in the Arthur C. Clarke school of ?hard? sci-fi, a genre that insists on a strict adherence to scientific feasibility. ?I write science articles and science fiction stories as accurately as I can so that the reader will learn some science while enjoying a story,? he once remarked.
His fictional works typically began from exotic scientific hypothesis. His first novel, Dragon?s Egg (1980), like its sequel, Starquake (1985), was set on a neutron star among rapidly evolving beings called ?cheela? whose lifespan is 45 minutes. The Flight of the Dragonfly (retitled Rocheworld, 1990) featured twin planets populated by amoeba-like beings called ?flouwen?, creatures whose only physical presence is their brains and whose sole pastimes are pondering mathematical abstractions and procreating. Forward?s final work, Saturn Rukh (1996), charts the adventures of five human beings sent to the ringed planet to convert chemicals into fuel ? only to face the wrath of Saturn?s ?rukhs?, two-headed monsters that populate the Saturnian skies.

Born in Geneva, New York state, Robert Lull Forward served in the US Air Force, rising to the rank of captain, before attending attending the University of California and the University of Maryland, where he studied gravitational physics. He was one of the first to experiment in the field of gravitational radiation astronomy, and for his doctoral thesis he constructed and operated the first antenna in the world that could detect gravitational radiation (in layman?s terms, gravity).

So convinced were they by Forward?s theories that the makers of Star Trek ?used? his hypothetical antimatter propulsion machine to power the USS Enterprise in its intergalactic adventures. And Forward was very much a believer that today?s science fiction was tomorrow?s science fact: not only did he think antimatter propulsion was possible, but he declared in 1987 it could be achieved within a generation.

In recent years he ran the consulting company Forward Unlimited, ?specialising in exotic physics and advanced space propulsion?. In addition to his numerous scientific articles, short stories and novels, he wrote the science book Future Magic and, with Joel Davis, Mirror Matter: Pioneering Antimatter Physics (both 1988).

Having struggled with cancer in recent years, Forward had prepared obituaries of himself for the various organisations he belonged to. One began: ?The intelligent pattern of protoplasm that had been Robert L. Forward ceased coherent operation . . .? Robert Hoyt, a friend and colleague, remarked on his death: ?Hopefully, Bob?s spirit, now unburdened by that nuisance called inertia, has reached lightspeed. I hope you all will join me in wishing him: Ad Astra, Bob!? He is survived by his wife Martha, a son and three daughters, one of whom, Julie Forward Fuller, collaborated on some of his novels.

After unwittingly wandering into a minefield in Romulan territory, Enterprise becomes trapped when struck by an undetonated mine. When Reed takes a space walk to try to defuse the mine, he inadvertently gets pinned to the outer hull and Archer must choose between saving Reed or abiding by the Romulans' orders to depart immediately.

 

'Minefield' är det första manus som den före detta Arkiv X-skribenten John Shiban har skrivit. Avsnittet regisserades av James Contner, som även regisserade 'Carbon Creek'.

Scott Bakula (Jonathan Archer) har tidigare lovat att detta avsnitt kommer att ha fantastiska optiska effekter.

"We're going to be out there on the hull and behind us you'll see the nacelles and just things that they haven't visually done before. There's a moment when a ship materialises behind Dominic when he's on the hull which I think is going to be stunning stuff."
